History

Mision Guadalupe is located in the Pronaf section of Juarez, which is not too far from the Stanton Street International Bridge. The restaurant has a bistro look with a unique water feature in the center of the dining room. Traditional materials were used with a modern application when designing the casual but elegant ambiance. Mision Guadalupe features a stone quarry by the bar, blonde wood beams and glass panes throughout the main dining room. There is also a private room that can accommodate up to fifty guests for private functions. The cuisine at Mision Guadalupe is a fusion of old traditional Mexican techniques and new contemporary recipes and presentations. One of the new culinary creations from the chefs at Mision Guadalupe originates from the Yucatan, and is called Ponocho. This appetizer is originally made with pork, but their version replaces pork with fresh gulf shrimp. The shrimp is marinated in achiote, and added to a combination of stewed black beans and a slice of habanero chile. The complete dish is layered on top of a mini corn tostada. Mision Guadalupe’s Mole Negro is a deliciously prepared entrée. The grilled tenderloin is smothered with Chile Negro, which is a traditional mole from Oaxaca. The tenderloin is accompanied by two small masa dumplings filled with chicharrones. The presentation includes steamed chayote squash. The tenderloin is topped with cured onion marinated in lime juice and oregano. All of the dishes are prepared beautifully and taste outstanding. So when you make the trip to Juarez, be sure and stop in for lunch or dinner.
